Tracy, great stuff. My wife was pregnant twice. The first time her hippocampus must have been the size of a pea (don't tell her I told you). The second she took fish oil capsules and pregnancy didn't seem so obvious - perhaps the omega 3s altered the efficiency of her brain's membranes and the effect of pregnancy was counteracted in some way? Or perhaps she (or I) was just lucky.
Anyway, I work in brain compatible education and will be presenting at etc2011 in KK with you. I plan to be at all your workshops. Would welcome an email from you...

Hi.

As some of us know, the Biology, Environment and Psychology of each individual, seems to generally interact in a very complex way. Skilled teachers appriciate these forces yet as a learning student I find few are able to support my particular learning capabilities...

My university openly states "learning is the students resonsibility" which obviously contridicts the meaning of the sentence.

Do you have any ideas on how to bring any beneficial change to a teaching organisation like a university to support learning adult students with poor working memory or other mentally unfavourable traits in a class room setting?

Thank you for your time.

Regards,

Steve

What an outstanding article! It thoroughly justifies the completely random decisions I made throughout both of my pregnancies. Unfortunately, whenever I claimed it was the baby trying to make itself more intelligent by depleting my brainpower, I received no sympathy whatsoever! Now, if you could explain why my brain never quite returned to its former brilliance following pregnancy, I would be eternally grateful. :)

Hi Tracy, this is really interesting. Would you say the same theory applies for the popular "blogging" trend now? Typically, it works very much in the same way as writing a diary. To top that, we have all these current social networking features (i.e.: twitter, facebook) that enables and encourages us to expand our communication & language skills. I think this is a really interesting study and will actually gain more insights if another study is done using the current trends in blogging styles, etc.
